Plethysm of Schur Functions and Irreducible Polynomial Representations of the Complex General Linear Group
We show the intimate connection Schur functions have with the irreducible polynomial representations of GL(n,C). Following Schur’s thesis, in Section 1, we prove that the characters of these representations are given by Schur functions. In the second section, we elaborate on how a specific combinatorial operation on symmetric functions called plethysm gives the characters of the composition of ...
متن کاملDeformation of Outer Representations of Galois Group
To a hyperbolic smooth curve defined over a number-field one naturally associates an "anabelian" representation of the absolute Galois group of the base field landing in outer automorphism group of the algebraic fundamental group. In this paper, we introduce several deformation problems for Lie-algebra versions of the above representation and show that, this way we get a richer structure than t...
متن کاملGroup Actions and Group Extensions
In this paper we study finite group extensions represented by special cohomology classes. As an application, we obtain some restrictions on finite groups which can act freely on a product of spheres or on a product of real projective spaces. In particular, we prove that if (Z/p)r acts freely on (S1)k , then r ≤ k.

they have additional information on their patients’ health and clinical statuses. The information could be acquired directly from patients or electronically from other providers through healthcare information exchanges (HIE). In the latter case, a common language or standard is necessary for sending and receiving digital forms of clinical data among healthcare organizations. On February 12, 200...
